A common misconception is that “wealth” is achieved as a result of financial success and the amassing of material possessions. In his book The Millionaire Fastlane author MJ DeMarco outlines the concept of the “Wealth Trinity” as an argument to the contrary.
The Wealth Trinity: Family, Fitness, and Freedom.
Family
Would you consider yourself wealthy if you had all of the money in the world, but your familial relationships have deteriorated to the point of no return?
Fitness
Using the same scenario outlined above, what if your health was so poor that you were bedridden, persistently ill, or otherwise disabled?
It is health that is the real wealth and not piece of gold and silver. - Mahatma Gandhi
Freedom
Lastly, what good would all of that money be if you didn’t have the freedom to enjoy it?
Wealth is the ability to fully experience life. - Henry David Thoreau
Please don’t take your family, fitness or freedom for granted. We rarely have a sense of the value of these things until we lose them and by then, it might be too late.
