I wish you pain..png

Yesterday singer-songwriter Andy Grammer forgot the lyrics to his new song, Wish You Pain, during a live performance on the Kelly and Ryan show. Given the message the song is meant to convey, the error proved to be a fortunate stroke of serendipity as Andy outlined in a Facebook post after the show:

“It is honestly fitting for the song I was singing “Wish you pain.” The concept of the song is that something good can always come from something bad. As I sit here laughing at myself the one thing I am sure of is that people will remember this performance on this show and this song more then any of my others.”

Pain. Embarrassment. Stress.

In moderation, these seemingly unfortunate feelings often represent an opportunity for growth.

Exercise, while painful, typically results in muscle growth.

Forgetting your lyrics during a live television performance, while embarrassing, tests your mettle in terms of dealing with adversity.

Contracting an illness, while stressful, can actually bolster your immune system.

These feelings can serve as practice for the tough challenges we will inevitably encounter in our lives. When you look at it from that perspective…

It doesn’t sound so strange to wish you pain.
