The Art of Living - Issue #21
As Jim Collins alluded to above in his best selling book Good to Great I’ve found that the quality of my life is directly related to the people that I allow to be a part of it. With that being said, time is a limited resource and I have to be highly intentional in regards to how I spend it. As such, those that I love and respect are prioritized while negative people are swiftly identified and removed.
To extrapolate on the final point above it seems that knowing the importance of the “who” makes the “what” much less important. For instance, when the concept of ice fishing was initially proposed to me the thought of spending hours on end in an ice house with questionable climate control in the middle of a Minnesota winter for the chance to catch a fish sounded miserable. I finally came around to the idea when I realized that ice fishing is often just an excuse to spend time with friends and family. Just about any activity can be enjoyable when you’re with the right people.
Are there people on your bus that are hindering your ability to have a great life?
